Solar Frontier Europe GmbH celebrates 10 years anniversary

Wednesday March 03, 2010 was the founding day of Solar Frontier K.K.´s European headquarter. The main task and function of SFE was the sales and business development of Solar Frontier CIS power modules in the region EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). As CI(G)S was, and continues to be, the most powerful among thinfilm photovoltaic technologies, fast market introduction and rapidly growing sales footprint could be achieved. Besides, unique features like shading resistance, light soaking, and strong energy production even at high temperatures and in diffuse light conditions were soon a known and highly valued fact among SFE customers, and led to an installed base of around 800 Megawatt through the years.

Further, SFE introduced complete PV packet solutions to the EMEA market: from small residential solutions (PowerSets) between 3 kW and 20 kW to industrial PowerSets up to MW-size, but also complete freefield Powerplants – from project development, planning, commissioning to operation and maintenance.

As currently, due to high demand for SF CIS power modules in their home market Japan, regular module deliveries to Europe and related sales activities are stalled, the core business of SFE currently focusses on operation and maintenance, technical consultancy and advice, and quality assurance, along with renewable energy business development in general. Recently, Solar Frontier K.K.´s Japanese shareholder company Showa shell Sekiyu implemented a merger with Japanese petrol company Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., trading as Idemitsu Showa Shell, and making SFE a member of the Idemitsu Group.
